Lewis dot structure in the case of NH3 is illustrated by the valence electrons surrounding the nitrogen atom. The Lewis dot structure for ammonia reveals that the N atom joins one pair of e- with each of the three H atoms, resulting in a complete of 3 shared pairs of electrons. The NH3 molecule takes a trigonal pyramidal form due to the distribution of the outer electrons according to its Lewis dot structure.
