Cancerbero is a mythical monster in Greek legends. It is often depicted as a multi-headed canine guarding the gates of the underworld. According to some legends, Cancerbero owns three heads, while in others it can have as many as nine separate heads. The word "cancerbero" is also used to refer to a ferocious and unrelenting sentinel.
